HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Tuesday, 12 January 2010 18:32 by stephwhyte
Happy New year to all!!  We sure hope and pray your 2010 will be blessed beyond your imaginations.  We as a ministry are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us.  We have such big dreams and KNOW God will finish what He has started and Called us to do.. Please remember us in your prayers and also the children out there still waiting for a forever family or those children taken into care everyday in America.

Well, Christmas was a blessing and a wonderful time of praise, thanksgiving and JOY... We enjoyed many holiday traditions and had a wonderful time with extended family and friends celebrating the birth of our Savior... It is always exciting celebrating a birthday, however, when it is for Jesus.. Something just seems extra sweet about it.  This year we truly focused on the true meaning of the Holiday and about the greatest gift.  The children enjoyed Caroling, Christmas Programs, Candlelight Services, Baking Goodies, looking at Christmas Lights, the list goes on and on.. We were blessed to be able to help out other families this yr with gifts and parties.. WE are soo thankful for those that have chosen to make a difference in a child's life.  We know first hand Christmas was extra special for many families who became FOREVER Families in 2009.

IT is our hope and dream that many more of America's Orphans will be able to celebrate Christmas next year with a family to call their very own. If you are interested in adopting in Autauga or Elmore County.. Please join us at the APAC support groups for these counties that meet on the 3rd and 4th Tuesday of each month.. For more info, please contact APAC directly at 409-9477.

The New year always brings a new calendar.. If you are interested in having our ministry come and speak to your church, civic group, etc. Please contact us.  We love to share our passion with others in hopes that we ALL can make a difference in a child's life...

Blessings until next time...

My how time is flying!!! God is faithful always....

Thursday, 3 December 2009 19:44 by stephwhyte
Hi All!!
Wow, it is so crazy to realize it has been soooo long since I have updated.. I know, same story different post.  Life just seems to keep me especially busy with ministry needs,on top of the needs of my precious children. I am, however, the most blessed woman out there. I have so many things to be thankful for.
Well,  National Adoption Month has come and gone. It was a very busy time for our ministry. We were able to be a part of many celebrations in the state and met many wonderful families with the same heart, as well as those that work professionally for America's Orphans here in Alabama.
We got to share our story and show first hand the difference that can be made by just opening your heart and home to a child. We have soo much love in this home and I am a proud mother of ALL my kids. They have the same heart to help others as their Mommy and Daddy and so it is a blessing to see them share that love with those families who have adopted or are thinking about it.

In my last post I talked about a church that had come to paint for us.. It was such a blessing.  Well, the Lord has continued to bless us with relationships with some of the young adults that came here. We went from having 3 of them to return on a weekly basis to watch football, to now 7+ that are here for bible study and fellowship. Having 19 for dinner on a regular basis has brought much joy to our lives. We absolutely LOVE having them all here. They are such a wonderful example to all the younger kids. God works in mysterious ways for sure.. We would have never expected to have such a large extension of our family come from the kindness of a church group. But we are still eternally grateful for it.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving as I hope all of you did. It was great being with extended family and watching all the kids play with their cousins. Oh... I almost forgot!!!!! UPDATE!!! We were blessed with a 15 passenger van in Oct. So for the first Thanksgiving in 3 years, we took ONE VEHICLE when we traveled to our families house. It was such a reason to be Thankful for sure.

Christmas is upon us!! Hard to believe we are almost to the end of 2009!!!  It was a wonderful year full of love and permanency. We had a little heartbreak and loss as well. But God remains faithful and true through it all.
Thanks to all who have donated to our cause.. We are pleased to have helped a couple families in need. Praying that next year we will be able to help even more.
It only takes one person to make a difference in the life of a child. The movie "Blind Side" was a wonderful story of this truth.  Even if you are not called to take a child in your home as your own, you can still make a difference by helping someone who does. The bible calls us to take care of the Orphans and Widows in their time of need( James 1:27). It is our job to do that.. If everyone would just pitch in a little bit, we would have less orphans which would lead to less crime and brokenness.  How can you help??  Pray for the kids. Give of your time to a family that has foster or adoptive children. Adopt a kid for Christmas or their birthdays.. show them love and that they are special just like all the other kids in this world.

APCH, currently is raising money/gift cards to help provide Christmas for some of these precious kids, who are not being helped by other agencies. Please, if you have been blessed a little extra this year, help us make a difference.  You can donate on our website(tax deductible) or by contacting us. We are wanting to raise $20 gift cards from various locations that can provide clothes, toys, or even food for these families. Examples would be Target, Walmart, Ross, TJ MAXX, JCPENNEY, Toys R Us, Build a Bear, Etc. Our goal is 500 cards! If everyone just did a little, we could reach that goal.
Thanks so much for all your support through out this yr. We pray a special blessing over you and your families in the yr to come.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!

What a blessing!!!

Saturday, 15 August 2009 23:48 by stephwhyte

I want to take a moment to thank any teen or young adult ( not so young ones too :))for blessing us with the help today.  We had a wonderful time getting to know you guys from Christ Community and the love and care you showed our children made a lasting empact on their life as well as ours.  We have been working pretty steady for 2 yrs just trying to get the house more efficient and livable with soo many kids.  We are getting soo much closer however there are many tedious tasks still left to finish.  Well today you showed up with all kinds of paint and supplies and you painted areas we have been hoping to get to since JAN.  THANK YOU just does not seem enough, nor will it truly express what we feel in our heart about your blessing. When God called us to this place, He told us we were gonna do things His way.  His way usually involves His precious people who are willing to sacrafice something for someone else.  You were our angels today.  May God bless each of you in a very special way.  Thanks so much Jason for approaching us with such a loving heart and for believing in what we have been called to do.. Being parents to someone elses child is not always easy, however watching them receive hope and then having it reiterated through others just makes it easier for them to believe that their hope is real and never fading.  Please know our door is always open.. We love having people over.  Whether it be for dinner, just to hang out or for our Weekly Saturday Football Watching Fun!!!Please come home to see us really soon.. You are all now family to us and we are blessed to have you in our l lives.

Also, we are still selling raffle tickets for the Wii Wii fit combo.  If you are interested in registering your name in the drawing, please contact me before SEpt 30th.  Tickets are on sale for $5/each.  Also please remember to check out the Birdies for Charity link on our homepage. We are trying to raise as much money as possible for that van as well as money to finish a fireplace and get furnishings for the classroom and Living area that have recently been finished.

May everyone who reads this be blessed beyond words.....  Good Night!!

Praise God From Whom ALL Blessings Flow!!!!

Tuesday, 11 August 2009 15:09 by stephwhyte

Wow, It sure has been a long time since I have taken the time to Blog!!! Forgive me.. Life is Extremely busy with so many children and animals that rely on me everyday, but I am an EXTREMELY Blessed Woman.

Well Summer was wonderful here on the ranch.. We had many opportunities to have lots of fun from Camps, to beach trips, to just hangin out with family and friends.. We were blessed beyond words..

We were blessed with the chance to go to Destin and stay for a whole week.. I need to take a minute and say a special thanks to Mr Steve and Wendy Wilson. The Wilson's own the Southern Star Dolphin Cruise there in Destin and they blessed us with an amazing trip.. We got to see 9 dolphin playing in the wild!!One of them was even a baby!!  We had the time of our lives there and at the Gulfarium as well.. Dolphins are one of our favorite creatures created by God and the whole family was super excited!!If you are ever in Destin and want to have an amazing time, Go see the awesome people at Southern Star, you will not be disappointed, they are a wonderful Christian Family.

I would also like a moment to Thank Everyone at APAC, My kids had the most amazing time at camp this year. It was a wonderful blessing for them to be there and for Mommy and Daddy to have a couple days alone.. If you live in the state of Alabama and have adopted or are thinking about adopting, please remember that Alabama Pre and Post Adoption Connections are there to serve you and your family..They are a part of the Children's Aide Society and they offer Adoption Support Groups all over the State.. I currently Co Facilitate 2 in Central Alabama. Autauga County Support Group meets the 2nd Thursday of every month at 6:00 pm at the First Methodist Church in Prattville, AL.  Childcare and Dinner are always provided.  Also, Elmore County Support Group meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 6:00pm at Bethel Assembly of God in Wetumpka, AL. Childcare and Dinner are always provided as well.  These meetings offer a time of fellowship as well as a time of learning and discussing issues each of us as Adoptive or Foster Parents may face.  The cool thing is that the kids, no matter the age, also have a time of fellowship and learning from trained Children's Therapist or Trained Childcare givers..The kids meet in the same building as the adults, so it is a win win situation EVER TIME.. We also have fun activities throughout the year aside from just the meetings.. If you are interested in attending one of these meetings, please feel free to contact me!!!

We are very excited here at the ranch to have J Mac from Christ Community Church and his youth and young adults coming out to help with some painting this weekend.. We have done lots of work on this house since we started almost 2 yrs ago, however there is still lots and lots to do.. Please pray God will send the people and resources needed to finish this house. We also need a 15- Passenger Van  or large vehicle desperately.. We know our God shall supply ALL of our needs according to HIS riches in Glory.. We just need some praying people to help us pray for this blessing...

We have also been invited to participate in the Navistar LPGA Birdies for Charity Tournament Fundraiser.. We are currently gathering pledges for every birdie hit during the tournament that is from Sept 30-Oct 4,2009 in Prattville, AL. We are prayerful this will be an avenue to not only raise funding, but to also get the word out about our ministry and these awesome kids that just need someone to love them...

I pray this finds everyone happy and healthy.. I pray God blesses all of you more than you can ever imagine...

Til next time...

Steph

Happy New Year!!!!!

Friday, 23 January 2009 13:53 by stephwhyte

Happy 2009!!!  Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!!  We were blessed beyond words and were busy busy busy...   we had all kinds of extended family and friends in town for a couple weeks and the kids enjoyed playing with cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles.. Memories were made to last a lifetime.

This year has started off with a bang for us.. From Broken bones, strep throat, the stomach bug, losing a job, etc.. It has been a bit on the crazy side..But even in the midst of our craziness The Lord has been faithful.. He has proven again to be the only strength we need when things get tough.. We are blessed...

Thanks to all who have donated to our cause..  For those that donated gifts or a helping hand.. WE ARE GRATEFUL!!!!  For those who offered up prayers for us , we are EQUALLY GRATEFUL!!!!  We could not do all this without the help of others....We have good news!!! We are in the works to finally finish the new laundry room..Yipppeeee!!! We are all very excited about the possibility of truly catching up!!!Laundry and dishes are a neverending task here at the Whyte house

All the kids are doing well. Everyone is almost healthy and we are praying we have paid our dues when it comes to sickness this yr... The weather cannot decide what it wants to do here..One day it is freezing and the next day beach weather ... The kids are all still praying for SNOW!!!!  It would be wonderful....

We have a new addition to the Whyte House... Jasmine Star, our new 7 yr old Quarterhorse Bay... She is our first horse and we are enjoying learning all the ends and outs of horse ownership..One of our daughters prayed for almost  7yrs for a horse and she is ecstatic that those prayers were answered...

The word about our ministry is really getting out.. We are soo thrilled at all the new families God has placed in our lives interested in becoming Forever Families for a precious child

Please continue to pray for our ministry and that God would send whom he would have serve with us..

Feel free to contact us anytime..

Blessings,

Happy Holidays!!!!

Wednesday, 10 December 2008 18:19 by stephwhyte

Wow.. it is amazing how time just seems to zoom past me..  So very much has happened since my last entry....

We were blessed with 2 wonderful teams from University of Mobile.. They came down and worked their tails off and helped us add 12 ft to the current living room and did some tile work and painting.. We still have a LONG way to go to finish the renovations on the existing home.. But a prayer was answered with the additonal room in the living room.. We will be able to have Christmas together in the same room... God is good.. We had a wonderful time bonding with all the new kids from UOM and the kids have forever added some "big brothers and sisters" to their lists of favorite things.. Thanks to all who came, donated food, time, supplies, etc.. It was amazing and we are forever grateful...

Also in Oct we were blessed to be nominated for EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER... It was very humbling how many people reacted to the news they were coming to Montgomery.. If all the nominations or endorsements were added  up it is our understanding it would be close to 60!!!   Thanks so much for the thinking of us.. To be nominated and placed in the same category with all those who have won in the past is humbling beyond words.. Even if we are not picked, to know so many people who would be willing to stop their own lives to come and help build us a finished house is overwhelming and mind boggling..  There are no words to describe our hearts and how warm they feel by your kind words.. Thanks...

Another wonderful milestone that has happened is we as a family have found a church family.. We are soo thrilled to have joined Church of Living Water in Prattville... They are such a wonderful support and have embraced our kids with open arms.. The kids absolutely love the ministries for them it has to offer and we love Pastor Jack and Ms Becky tons and tons.. The church as a whole is about serving others.. which is exactly what we have been called to do.. There is nothing like fitting in and feeling like you have been somewhere forever...Thanks church for welcoming us in and making us one of your own......

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with extended family and are looking forward to a wonderful Christmas filled with visits from even more extended family.. It should be amazing... We also had our very first float in the Millbrook Christmas Parade.. It was lots of fun had by all... We so look forward to doing it again next yr..

We are hosting a Christmas Party for the Elmore Co and Autauga Co Adoption support groups on the 16th of Dec... If you have adopted a child or are in the process or know someone who is .. please feel free to contact us.. I am currently the Co Facilitator with APAC for the Elmore Co group and starting in Jan will be adding the Autauga Co group to my list as well....We are always here if anyone has any questions at all..

It is our hope that you and yours have a WONDERFUL Christmas and that 2009 provides many blessings as well.. Thanks to all who have donated to our cause and to those who believe in what we do..Without you we could not help these kids and families...

Please continue to pray for the children and all the transitions in their lives.. Pray for God to continue to send HIS people whom He has called to help us out or to love these kids that need families to call their own...

Merry Christmas!!!!!

WE are excited!!!!

Tuesday, 21 October 2008 15:42 by stephwhyte

WEll, the week has finally arrived!!!! WE are so thrilled to have a large group from University of Mobile coming to help us with renovations.. They will be here on Fridayand stay until Sunday.. God is so faithful to meet us where we are.. We have been blessed not only with laborers, but also supplies.. The decision was made by our future Board of Directors one yr ago to finish the first home on the ranch and then start on the second.. We are coming soo very close to that dream becoming a reality.. God is so faithful and you His people are as well.. Thank you to all who have helped just does not seem to be enough. Without your hearts and hands, we would not be here ... It is never easy trying to do it all yourself and also raising 12 kids.. This is God's ministry and we are so excited to see what he is doing with it...

We are off to another APAC meeting tonight.. If you know of anyone in the Elmore or Autauga Co area who has adopted whether through DHR or the state or Internationally, please tell them to contact me.. IT is the goal of APAC to unite all those going through the same things so that we can strengthen the bonds that we could potentially have with each other.. Everyone needs a shoulder to lean on.. Yes, we could battle through it alone, but WHY?  There are many going through the same things, both good and bad and if we lean on each other , it makes life so much more enjoyable...

Thanks again for all your love and support..Please continue to pray for us...

Oh and Thanks Ms Bev from Jenkins Brick.. You are an angel!!!!

God is soo good!!!

Sunday, 5 October 2008 14:42 by stephwhyte

Well things at the Whyte house are never boring.  We have had a pretty busy couple weeks with one little crisis after the other.. But Praise God from whom all blessings flow that HE is in charge and is always with us..   He never seems to amaze us in all the ways that he works.. How awesome is it that God chooses to use people for His blessings, in His time, and through His ways... God has the power to do ALL things Himself and sometimes does, however, how much more does it mean when He works through His people and proves His love to where others are blessed as well... We had the joy of attending a wonderful church today whose heart is just that.. God used them and their ways to bless our spirit beyond measure.. How wonderful is our God that in His timing He would reach down and encourage us just by proving He still has this in His hands.. It does not matter what mini crisis, what others think, what others do or don't do, this ministry is HIS and HE will finish what He starts...

We have a miracle to pray for.. WE have been blessed to have a couple mission groups wanting to come work on our home.. We have been working diligently for a yr to get this main house equipped and finished so we can start on the other 2.. We still have much tiling, painting , wall construction, wiring, sheetrock etc to do.. we currently have concrete floors in 6 rooms needing tile on them.. many people have promised they were gonna get us flooring, but to no evail.. many have offered to come help, but the thing always holding us back has been supplies.. So now we have these groups from the University of Mobile coming to work their hearts out and as we do have some supplies, if we could get all that we need to finish this phase of construction would be beyond our wildest dreams.. The peace that would come with things being back in their right place and everything clean again.. Having 12 kids in the home makes things overwhelming sometimes.. so If we could just get this done.. would be such a huge miracle to me..

So, with all that.. PLEASE pray and believe for a miracle with us.. We need either $9000.00 or supplies by the weekend of the  OCT 24th.. We know God will supply all our needs.. He just calls us to pray and believe together.. It has been our prayers to have it complete before Christmas.. Please join us in our prayers...

Praying the Peace of Jesus to you all...

Steph

Thoughts from Steph

Friday, 26 September 2008 10:09 by stephwhyte

WOw, there does not seem to be enough hours in a day.... Between all the kids, homework, chores, ministry, husband with a broken foot, renovations, shopping, etc. I am starting to believe I need a secretary or a personal assistant.. LOL!! Praise God for his grace to get me through.. Yes, Steve is laid up with a broken /very injured foot.. he has a toe he broke in half plus other tissue damage and he will be in a cast for 8 weeks.. I am soo blessed to have a husband who works with me as a team player.. I have always felt blessed, but now that I am a one man show, I appreciate him even more... Steve was being an awesome dad when he hurt himself.  We were having a family day and picnic. It was during our Whyte Family football game that his foot got stepped on or something.. then being who he is , he still played all time quarterback for 2 more hours.. We had no idea it was injured so badly..  Pray for his recovery...

Well the Birdies for Charity Tournament is going on now.. We have been blessed with the opportunity to be a part of the whole thing.. We did not get to raise as many pledges as we would have liked only bc it was STeve and I doing it all ... and with all the other things on our plate, we are needing help..So pray that God brings along side us those people he would have to make this thing work.. We seek His will daily and HE keeps saying press foreward.. So we are obedient and walking in HIs steps..Believing by faith that one day soon, this will bust wide open..

We were blessed to be contacted by a reporter from a local paper who felt led to come and hear our story and tell others our hearts.. Thanks so much Hamilton for believing in what we are doing and what God has for us.. Thanks for your kind words and wonderful article.. It was a blessing to get to know you more and meet some of your boys.. We hope this is the beginning of a wonderful friendship for all the kids.

Continue to lift us up in prayer and God's ministry that He is creating..

Here is the article from the paper.. If you are feeling led by God to join our cause in anyway, please contact us.. If you are an adoptive or foster parent and just need someone to talk to or cry with.. CALL ME!!! I am always here for you... We would love to meet you.. WE believe everyone needs support when they are called to love unconditionally and open up there hearts for these special kids...

Blessings to you all.....

Steven and Stephanie Whyte run the ministry, A Place Called Home, from their Elmore residence. The Whytes have 12 kids living with them and work to support other foster and adoptive parents.
-- Hamilton Richardson, Progress

Watch for Top Jobs coming to this space soon.

The word "home" means different things to different people. To some, the concept of "home" might mean family and fresh cooked meals. To others it could mean friends and fun. No matter what definition is used, many people cherish the thought of home.

For Elmore residents Steven and Stephanie Whyte, "home" means caring about and taking responsibility for distressed children who have no home of their own.

The Whytes, who are both Alabama licensed foster and adoptive parents, currently have 12 kids living in their home, which they call My Father's House Ranch. Three of the children are the Whyte's biological children, two have been adopted out of foster care, four are pending adoption, one is a current foster child, and two are previous foster children. The Whyte's ministry is appropriately known as A Place Called Home.

A Place Called Home is the Whyte's answer to the needs of foster children in the system that don't have solid, loving homes, and the couple says their response is to a passage in the Bible in the book of James.

"It's the job of the church to help widows and orphans," said Steven Whyte. "A Place Called Home meets a need for foster parents and adoptive parents."

According to Stephanie Whyte, there are 126,000 orphans in the U.S. in need of adoption. Many of the kids in foster homes go through multiple home environments and at times, serious abuse, before they get to a caring home. And sometimes, they never get to that caring, loving home, but are sent out of the system as an adult with nowhere to go and nothing to do.

"We want to be a voice for kids and a mentor for foster parents," said Stephanie Whyte. "As a ministry, we help people in need."

The Whytes, who have been married 13 years, began their journey into foster parenting about four years ago. After several years of turmoil -- including Stephanie's cancer, which she believes was healed miraculously by God -- the loss of work, and the fact that one of their daughters almost died, the couple started foster parenting classes.

"Three years ago, God woke me up and told me to adopt two children out of foster care," Stephanie Whyte said. "Within three weeks, two boys were here with us."

The Whytes continued to take in foster kids and then adopt them when they could. Because of the foster home horror stories they heard from some of the children, they felt that they needed to be a helping force for other foster and adoptive parents. A Place Called Home became that network.

The Whytes began to have a vision of more than one home on their property where foster parents and their kids could live. The vision for A Place Called Home, the couple says, is "to be a voice of truth that mobilizes the church; a place that monetarily, emotionally, and spiritually supports foster and adoptive families; and a network of fully-supported, individually licensed foster homes." The 503(c) ministry is a part of A.C.T. International, which is the mission board that oversees it.

"We are looking for Christian foster parents to be a light in the community," Steven Whyte commented. "It's a different model."

The Whytes have a philosophy that revolves around the love of children, which has been important in dealing with the issues that come with foster kids. Many children who have gone through the foster care system have been labeled as problem children and have been treated with medication.

"You give them Jesus, hope, and structure and the need for medication goes away," Stephanie Whyte said. "It's a huge job to raise someone else's child, but it's a blessing."

Steven Whyte is currently an I.T. consultant and a recently ordained pastor, but it takes a lot to support the Whyte's ministry efforts and according to Whyte, the couple doesn't have enough resources or people. The couple is finishing up construction on their house and looking at designs for other homes on their property. Some of the current needs include a 15-passenger van, a tractor, rail fencing, a playground, building materials and commercial appliances.

To offer assistance or resources to A Place Called Home, or to get information about the needs of foster kids, go online to www.apchm.org.

APAC Support Group

Tuesday, 16 September 2008 19:53 by stephwhyte

Tonight was the first night that I was the Parent Co Facilitator for the Elmore County Adoption support group.  We had a wonderful turn out.. It is amazing to see all the ways God is allowing us to share our passion with others and meet those with like hearts.. This is all about giving hope to America's hopeless kids... It is a special call for someone to give of themselves unconditionally and to love.. But it is what God has told us as believers to do.. We are so hoping to be a support to anyone who has been blessed enough to have this call.. It is not always easy, but the joys that come with it are beyond what words can describe.  So if you are a Foster or Adoptive Parent in the Prattville, Millbrook, Wetumpka,Montgomery, AL area and need a place to be yourself and lean on others going through the same sort of things.. Come, be a part.. Dinner and Childcare are always provided.. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of the Month at Bethel Worship Center in Wetumpka.  Just shoot me an email and let me know you are coming.. We also hope to be starting some social events outside the meetings, just to get to know each other better.

If you are interested or have any questions at all, feel free to contact me..

We would love to see you there!!

Blessings,

Steph
